2023

In 2023 I have continued working on The Awkward Truth, my conspiracy theory series. I also presented my ARG Computación Cozumel 81, a symbolic smartphone and handheld devices repair shop that turned broken devices into sculptures.

 

This year I also got invited to participate on Eje Neovolcánico, an exhibition curated by Paulina Ascencio & Daniel Garza Usabiaga to present my Second Life Vulcanologist Association at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City. As the show explored the practices of Mexican artists that incorporated volcanos in their work, including Dr Atl, Jose Maria Velasco & Rodrigo Pimentel, after several talks we decided the best would be to recreate the birth of the Paricutin volcano in a metaverse. I recorded a machinima in Second Life that features Mariano Osorio as the narrator. 

 

At the beginning of the year, the Centro Cultural de España in Mexico City approached me to create an exhibition that would talk about the future. Along with Mariana Camargo and Elisa Cantú, we created a show that involved artists whom I relate to and have inspired my work regarding this subject. You can read our exhibition catalogue here. As AI tools become more powerful, I have deepened into text-to-video and image-to-video generations using different machine learning tools. I have created new material for The Awkward Truth and began working on a video decalog and my short film PokeChef, which imagines a documentary of restaurants that cook Pokemon. 

 

I also began an ongoing collaboration with Arte Expuesto, which has allowed me to launch a campaign on a state level at the south of the Periférico, our largest and more transited avenue in Mexico City, for my ARG Colonia Estates. Please visit coloniaestates.com for more.

 

My short film Panspermia, one of my flat earth observatories, and my polaroids were also featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Querétaro at Vicios del Lenguaje, a show curated by Maryann Diaz

 

Finally, I continue to work on my polaroids, my videos, my paintings and my websites. Current works in progress include WeAlwaysKnew.com , a flat earths’ observatory. I will also relocate my studio to Colonia Juárez <3 .
